Special Love and Attention for Your Pet!

Lori Shuman   My name is Lori Shuman.  I love dogs, and I am a professional dog stylist.  I received my certificate from Animal Arts Academy in Carmel, IN.  I attend annual grooming conferences in Chicago, IL and Louisville, KY in order to discuss and discover new styles, products, and techniques relating to styling and the care of dogs.  In addition, I am an active member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America.  I have always had a love for animals and desire to create a calm and soothing environment for pets while styling.  Grooming is, for me, a creative and artistic outlet.  It validates my love for the pets, which is what I enjoy the most. When I groom, I approach each pet calmly emphasizing a bond of trust developed through consistent care and acceptance.  I do this, in part, because I have witnessed, professional and non-professional, mistreatment of many dogs.  That observation makes me sick.  It is my desire to offer a happier, healthier alternative.  That is why I started my business, For the Love of Dogs Mobile Pet Salon. Cindy Calhoun  Hi everybody!  My name is Cindy Calhoun.  One of my favorite quotes is "Whatever you do, do what you love", and working with dogs is what I love! My experience with dogs includes working at a no-kill animal shelter, a kennel manager for a pet hotel, a veterinary office, as well as an animal caretaker and dog play supervisor at a pet resort. I received my diploma as a Certified Dog Groomer at the Grooming School of Indiana, and have completed the Knowing Dogs 101: Dog Language course by Robin k. Bennet and Susan Briggs. In addition, I have an Associates  Degree in Graphic Design. My clients and their 'fur babies' are my second family and are treated with the same love, care, and concern for safety that I provide my family at home.  Growing up my home was never without a cat or a dog,  and included German Shepherds, a Wolfhound, Afghan hound, English bulldog, Boxer, Neopolitan mastiff, and my current little fat man, Snafu, who is a pug. A big thank you to all my clients for all the joy I receive in caring for their dogs!

Catheryne Shuman   Hi! My name is Catie Shuman (yes, I'm Lori's daughter).  I help out with the scheduling, phone inquiries, e-mails, web design and other miscellaneous jobs that come up.  I am currently a student at Roosevelt University Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) where I am a Professional Diploma in Opera student and a Young Artist at Chicago Opera Theater.  In 2010, I received a Master of Music Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where I sang several roles with CIM Opera Theater.  I have my Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance with a concentration in German from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and was a member of Psi Lambda Xi sorority.  I have always been an animal lover and grew up in a home that was practically a zoo (at one point in time we had 2 dogs, a cat and 3 birds).  Currently, I live in Chicago and enjoy taking time to talk to you and help with all of your scheduling needs!    For more information about my career on the operatic stage, please visit www.CatheryneShuman.com.
